Why the Medium Partner Program is the Best Thing That’s Ever Happened To Me
The Medium Partner Program changes lives.
Tomorrow is the last day of June, and that means I’ve been writing on Medium regularly for two full months now. Although life took over a little bit near the end of June (I won’t be breaking any record for stories written this month, unfortunately), I’m back in the saddle with plenty of free time to dedicate to Medium.
And despite my slump, my earnings went from $140 in May to $119 this month — not bad, considering I wrote about 70% less in June.
But it’s not just the earnings that have kept me motivated: the Medium Partner Program has given me so much more than that.
I’ve always been a bit shy with my writing.
I think it stems back from sixth grade, when a group of my peers stole my notebook while I was in the bathroom. When I came back, they all looked at me with new eyes, for they’d read a story I’d written about a girl killing her uncle, something I’d been working on in the off-moments of class. Some seemed more respectful but they mostly just seemed… scared. No matter that it was the very first violent story I’d ever written; they didn’t know that.
