From Amateur to Freelancer in 30 Days: Day 3

Today has been an emotional roller coaster. What day in my life isn’t? I’m always so up and down. But it’s getting in my way less and less as the days go on.

I woke up at 7am this morning, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, and decided I needed to go for a walk to the park immediately. It had been a cool night, one we’d spent with the windows thrown wide open, and the morning air still had a tinge of chill wetness to it. Dewdrops wet my sneakers. The sky was the color of my birthstone, aquamarine.

The playground was nearly deserted, so I made for the swings.

From the time I attended preschool, I loved the swings. It was the first incarnation of my addiction to repetitive movement — first swings, then running, then hooping. No matter how old I get, I can always return to the swings and feel that meditative flow of my feet rocking me back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

I came home and decimated my workout. Some silly thing my boyfriend said upset me and I got off track for a bit, but then it was time to clear my head, sit down and start to write.

I decided to pen an article for a client in my notebook because I felt chained to my computer, waiting like a dog for emails about revisions or other errors I might have made. So I sat down at my coffee table, at my…
