Today has probably been the roughest day so far out of the last few weeks.

I woke up too early this morning feeling super sick and all day my stomach has been giving me issues. I tried to fall back asleep, but it was only in fits and starts, so I haven’t felt quite my best today.

That doesn’t really matter when a freelancer has to get work done, however, so I tried to be productive anyway.

I worked for an hour and a half on a blog post for a new client today, who I’m really excited to work with in the future and help energize their brand. It was harder than I expected, writing a blog post that tended more towards copy than content, but I was able to resharpen those old skills from my Advertising classes in college. I think it turned out great.

After that, I hung out with a friend from my old job for a bit. He filled me in on the goings-on at the company and I was immensely grateful, listening to him talk, to know that I had gone my own way. Don’t get me wrong — my last job gave me a lot, including a new start after two years of being jobless and hopeless. But it’s time for me to find my own way, and it’s nice to hear that I’m not missing out on much by leaving and making a new start for myself.
